YouTube often blocks requests that come from servers. For the Magic Meal Kits YouTube modules to fetch transcripts and metadata reliably, register your YouTube login cookies with your server once.
Cookie upload works on Magic Meal Kits server 4.3.0 or later. If you’re on an older version, upgrade first.
  • Requests go out as the account whose cookies you register. YouTube may restrict that account temporarily or permanently, so we recommend a test Google account.
  • You don’t need YouTube Premium. A regular Google account works.
  • Private videos can’t be fetched.
1

Install the extension

Install Get cookies.txt LOCALLY. Type chrome://extensions/ in the address bar and turn on Allow in Incognito for it.
2

Log in to YouTube in an incognito window

Open a new incognito window and make sure you log in to youtube.com.
3

Go to robots.txt

In the same incognito window and tab, go to https://www.youtube.com/robots.txt. This should be the only tab open in that window.
4

Export the cookies

Click the extension icon and export the youtube.com cookies to a file.
5

Close the incognito window right away

Close the incognito window as soon as you’ve exported. If it stays open, the session keeps being used and the cookies you just exported expire.
The first line of the cookie file must be # HTTP Cookie File or # Netscape HTTP Cookie File. If it starts with anything else, it came from a different extension. Export it again with the one above.

2. Upload the cookies

1

Open the YouTube Cookies screen

At make.magicmealkits.com, open YouTube Cookies (YouTube 쿠키) in the left menu. If it asks you to connect Google Cloud first, click Connect Google Cloud (Google Cloud 연결).
2

Paste and upload

Paste the file contents into Paste cookies (쿠키 붙여넣기) or pick the file, then click Upload cookies (쿠키 업로드). You’re done when you see Cookies valid (쿠키 유효).

To register them from a Make scenario instead, use the YouTube Cookie Upload template. It takes a cookie file from Google Drive and registers it with the Register YouTube Cookies module.

If authentication errors continue

An authentication failure in the YouTube modules most likely means something went wrong while registering the cookies. Close every incognito window and start again from step 1. If it still fails, contact us on KakaoTalk.
